Royal Ascot Races

With Moet in hand and betting pounds in our pockets, we boarded the overland train and headed to Royal Ascot Races on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Moet on the train - Picnic in the car park

Just a tip people - dont skimp on the tickets and go in the pikey section. It was horrific. Luckily we drank too much Pimms and were full of confidence so marched into the posh section just in time to catch everyone singing some fine old English tunes and waving the flag.

Too much Pimms...

Waaay to much Pimms

Another good thing about the posh section is that was were Jodes and her Channel 9 entourage were so we managed to scam a lift back to London with them!

Best Draw Ever

Another stressful soccer match tonight, I'm beginning to see why all this 'football' violence happens all the time!

As we all know we drew with Croatia tonight ensuring us of a place in the next round of the World Cup.

You can now re-live the match with us:

This would be the Croation Goal in the 2nd minute

The equalizer from Aus in the 37th minute

The tragic second Croatian goal

Harry makes it 2 all!

Full time. Thank God!

It was rough and the 'Aussie' keeper seemed to be a waste of time but the result is what counts. Italy here come the boxing Kangaroos.

More Softball

We're still playing softball and you're probably already sick of hearing about it but we have some cool action shots we just had to put up. (Incidentally we won tonight 18-6 and are now 2nd on the ladder!)

Happy Birthday Little Man

Today my little nephew Aidan turns 4 (Aussie time anyway, it's on the 22nd).
He had an early party as his Dad (Brode) had to head out to WA for work.

Happy birthday little fella, we can't wait to get back home to see you and your folks.

It looks like you had a fun time with your Buzz Lightyear cake and your presents!

Australia vs Brazil

We headed out to the Elk bar in Fulham with our new flatmate Nicole yesterday to support our boys play Brazil - and what a good job they did too. Damo (who is a Kiwi) even sported a Wallabies jersey for the occasion!

After far to much Pimms and Lemonade (anyone see a pattern forming here) we all carved up the dancefloor and then went to Dominos...it was sore heads all round at work today.

85,000 Of Our Closest Friends

Saturday 17th June 2006 Hyde park: one of the greatest concerts we have ever been to took place. There was just 85,000 of us there to see the Foo Fighters play their biggest gig ever.

As we arrived the warm up act was just getting started, the warm up act were 'Juliette and the Licks' Juliette Lewis' band. She was really enerjetic and put on a good show even if most people had never heard her play music before (she's normally an actress).

Next up were 'Angels & Airwaves' the guy from Blink 182's side project. They actually put on a good show entertaining a mostly hostile crowd. We both enjoyed them inspite of their Blink 182 heritage.

Following them were 'Queens of the Stone Age' who put on a fantastic greatest hits set. However, I spent most of their set in the beer Queue retriving our only drinks of the day.

Last of the warm-ups were Mororhead, classic British ROCK! they played every song I know of theirs (Ace of Spades is the only one I knew) and more. As they were playing Juliette lewis came out and sang one song with Lenny and then it was time for the Fooies!

The Foo Fighters set was amazing, with everyone singing along to all their hits, lasers and for the first encore QUEEN played with them while the drummer Tylor sang!

We had the best time and can't wait for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers next month.

PS
GO AUSTRALIA! Good luck against Brazil (I think we may need it)

Friday Night Project - Football

On thursday afternoon England were playing a game of Soccer so Margie's work invited me along to watch (knowing what a 'huge' England fan I am). We enjoyed some brand new Fosters beers and saw England win... yay.

Once I could prise Margie off the director's baby we headed in to Waterloo to meet our flattie Damien AKA Danger Mouse who had organised some tickets for us to see the filming of a TV show 'the Friday Night Project'.

We eventually found our way to the studio, no thanks to the directions given by the producers, and joined the already long line.

The line crawled along into the studio and just when we were about to enter they pulled everyone up and told us that they had oversold the tickets and unfortunatly there was not enough room for us. Gutted.

We left with the promise of VIP tickets next time and decided to get some dodgey Chinese for dinner (it was great)

We're 1 Year Old!

We've been blogging for more than a year!
On the 8th June we reached 1 year of blogging here on Our OS Adventure.
So far we've had several entries and around 400 individual visitors each month with well over 3000 individual visitors for the year (thanks Mum).

Oh well back to work I guess.

3 - 1

I think you know what I'm talking about ;)

Yep, that's me in the Aussie away strip just after our win against Japan.
It was a great game but I may need a heart check-up after that!

World Cup BBQ

To celebrate the first England game of the Football World Cup, Wes' boss Craig had a BBQ at his place in North London.

It was a STUNNING 30 degree day and not a cloud in the sky. It is the first house we have been to in London that actually had a backyard! We felt like we were home!

It was a great day with far too much meat and Pimms had by all!

Date night!

On Friday night Wes took me out for a lovely surprise romantic evening...

We had a some cocktails and dinner and then saw The Blue Man Group which was great fun - Wes was even picked out of the audience and the whole audience said in unison 'We love you Wesley'! I highly recommend seeing them if you get the chance - they are the painted blue guys from the Intel ad.

Playing Hardball

Tuesday afternoon, beautiful and sunny, we all arrived at Regent's park ready for some softball fun.

The other team arrived and the game started.
Our pitching was a little off (not to mention batting and fielding). The opposition turned out to be very bitchy and were playing in an unsportsmanlike manner (ie: not even trying to hit the ball and hoping for a walk). We came back though with a brilliant slide home from Marg we managed to scrape a huge 8 runs from the final innings, I even grabbed a home run.

It was too little too late though and we ended up losing the game. :(

Better luck next time I guess.

One Year Old Today!

Interestingly today is exactly 1 year since our first blog post!
Happy Birthday Wes n' Marg's OS Adventure
