Vel-Vet Re-Vol-Ver
Last night Damo and I knocked back a couple of bourbon shots after work and headed to Hammersmith for the Velvet Revolver gig.
I had purchased what I thought were great tickets: stading, rear circle. turns out this is pretty much on the roof behind the last row of seats with your view obscured by the lighting. Needless to say when I found this out I wasn't too impressed.
So when we arrieved at Hammersmith and were approached by a scalper I jumped at the chance for even slightly better seats. It turned out that the guy had 2 tickets for the standing (read: moshing) section right in front of the stage. This looked too good to be true. Foolishly I bought the tickets (which were going cheaper than their original sale price) and handed over my crap ones as part of the payment.
Buyers remorse was instantaneous, Damo and I were both sure I had been ripped off and now we didn't even have the terrible nose-bleed seats to fall back on. We walked on to the venue in silence trying to convince ourselves that this would make a great travel story that we would be able to laugh about...
We made it to the door and showed the tickets then to our horror the guy produced a barcode reading machine and scanned the tickets!
They were OK!!! We were so releaved we went straight for the bar to calm our nerves.
After a couple of drinks we went inside, straight to the front. the support band were OK but finally the guys came on and they played brilliantly.
As soon as they started I lost Damo in the crowd as I made my closer to the barrier in front of the stage. The view was fantastic and I managed to get some shots with the camera.
They played a lot of stuff of their upcoming album 'Libertad' and lots of stuff of their last albumn but the highlight for me was being front row for Vasoline (Classic Stone Temple Pilots song from the album Purple). They also covered 'Wish You Were Here' by Pink Floyd, 'Psycho Killer' by Talking Heads and 'It's So Easy' by Guns 'n Roses.
It was a fantastic night, there are a few more pics here
