A Day in the City

On Tuesday we headed into the city to pick up our UK bank accounts. It was a beautiful day in London, the sun was shining and the temperature was almost hot! We cought the tube as close to the centre of the city as possible with the Piccadilly line out (sorry Mums, it's quite safe with 6000 police looking after us) then headed out on foot.

It was surreal walking up Park Lane heading for Regent street. Marg was overwhealmed with the shopping available and I nearly needed some of those nice coppers to help me keep her out of the shops. We do still have to find jobs and somewhere to live yet.

We picked up our new cards and headed to Soho and the West End for a look and some lunch. There are some amazing shows on right now with stars like Brooke Shields, Ewan McGregor, David schwimmer and even Brian Denerhey currently playing. We have decided to hit one when Mikey turns up later in August.

The walk home was great, we wandered up the road and saw a curious site. Tom had warned us that the moment the sun comes out in London everyone just stripps off and gets amongst it, what we saw was a park full of deck chairs and Londoners in various states of undress lounging in the park. It was fantastic! We then realised this was the park in front of the Buckingham Palace!

What a day!

PS
We eventually found a laundrette and did some much needed washing after our lunch with Kate. Here's a pic of Marg looking ravishing at the laundrette.

careful, if you're caught loitering in deckchairs you'll get some bastard trying to get you to pay for it! seriously, they come round with little tickets and charge you cash! You can usually threaten them though heh heh!

(just kidding all you parkies out there)

;0P
xxxxx

ps beware swans, do not go near the swans in the parks cos they will come after you and can break arms (i kid ye not), they are particularly hazardous when nesting and they also officially belong to the queen (british law states all swans are crown property and only the queen can eat a swan - and i think they do ffor xmas lunch - bit more impressive than turkey eh?!) so you cannot even attempt to chase them back or its treason or something like that and treason is still a beheading offense I believe according to a by-law from 1103ad or there abouts! ( i forgot to put swan warning in the little book of london)
pps you must not be caught on Lee Green (not a bird - a place in SE London!) on a Sunday arvo at 1pm without your longbow as it is still law for all people to show up for archery practice (another by-law never revoked for the past 800 years or something daft!) - you gotta love a country with history eh?!

Brilliant!
We have a bid on a good second hand yew longbow on eBay and a sudden fear of large birds in general.

Thanks for the heads up!
