Koh Samui

So we arrived yesterday at sunny Koh Samui, the holiday has begun in earnest now and of course we are already sunburnt.

After checking out our surroundings and walking down the white sand beach we relaxed with a quick swim and a nap at the resort. We awoke and feeling a little hungry we headed for the main strip to find some food.

Thailand seems to really come to life at night the place was a hive of activity, lights, cars and people from all over the world. We thought we might just have a peak at the beach at night time before we ate and it had completely transformed. Gone were the deck chairs with fat Poms and Germans and in their place were magical resturants surrounded by fairy lights with chairs right down to the warm waters edge.

We were captivated and decided to eat at the first one we saw. We picked our dinner from a selection of fresh seafood and decided on having 1 prawn each for dinner. The prawns were called jumbo river prawns and we have never seen a bigger prawn in our lives! They filled our entire plate and were cooked in black pepper and garlic served with fried rice and vegies. Our mouths are watering again typing this now...

So today has all been about lounging on the beach working on our tans. The weather today is HOT and we haden't spent long in the sun before we wanted to explore the island. We almost got stuck in the middle of our little bay as we went for a low tide walk but everything came out good in the end.

Tonight we hope to catch a Thai Boxing match after dinner.

Tomorrow we are heading south to another beach called Lamui for 7 nights should be just as fantastic..
