What a day...

Today we spent the day on an organised tour. It was brilliant. We started at 7:30 by heading to the north of the island and jumping in a speed boat after an hour we arrived at our first stop for some snorkelling. It was the first really sunny day in the last few so it felt great to get into the water.

From there we went to another island, up a very steep climb and saw a beautiful green lagoon in the center of the island. We nearly had a heart attack getting to the top but the view was worth it. afterward we headed back down to have a closer look. Swiming just under the viewing platform was a small (6 foot) shark but he dissappeared before we could see him.

After the climb and busting for the loo we headed for a short boat ride over to our lunch venue. The village, as shown, was VERY authentic complete with fishermen asleep in their hammocks. The lunch area was beautiful and clean and the food was good (the deep fried prawns and sweet chilli sauce particularly so).
Next it was off to our sea Kayaking adventure.

The Kayaks left from a beautiful beach (this is incidently the only photo we are willing to show of us in swimmers) and off around some of the typically Thai islands. Marg and I actually completed the circut first (believe it or not) and tomorrow we will both need a good massage. I think we'll swing the $6 it costs for 1 hour ;) In the background you can see a big storm brewing, noticing this our guide grabbed us and we headed back to Koh Samui as fast as we could.

Once back on shore we jumped onto the Koh Samui mass transit system (the back of a ute) and headed for an elephant sanctuary to ride the big fellas! Holy crap! Wes got to ride on the elepahnt bare back and Marg was treated like the Queen of Sheeba. It was amazing, the elephant's skin is so warm and the hair on its head is so ruff, she was a beautiful 45 year old girl and we had to feed her some bananas when we got off to say thanks.
(as you can see this was a lucky elephant as it's trunk is up ;)

Well that should do for today we returned home to this view from our hotel and more than ready for bed.

Mikey, can't wait to catch up either, should be just like old times, though we'll all be a lot thinner and in a different hemisphere...

Casper & Kimba, what can I say it's a lot of fun but we do miss everyone! (That and Karma has cought up with us, because all you bastards are so jealous all the time. I now have the bloody Asian Bird Flu or something and Marg is unwell in the belly!)
