It turned out ok as we got moved to the busines class section of the plane so that we could get off first and at Vienna they had a special bus waiting for us (Just the three of us) to make sure we could get to our gate on time.
The flight went smoothly and we arrived in Cairo not feeling too shabby. We were picked up by a rep from our tour and after a brief visa debarkle (they don't accept Egyptian money for an egyptian visa in Egypt apparently) we got in the van and headed to our first hotel. The Nile Hilton!

As Jodie would say our rooms were "Palacial". For some reason we were all upgraded to suites which was fine with us.
On the way in we had decided we wanted to do something exciting on our first night and we booked a nile cruise with dinner and a belly dancing show.

the cruise was on a massive ship filled with Japanese tourists and was pretty touristy. there was local music (well arabic dance music... an aquired taste to say the least) a belly dancer and a Whirling Dervish. We had a great night and were introduced to the local beer Stella (not the crap one with the white label).

Afterwards we went back and hit the rooftop bar at the Hilton for some cocktails overlooking the Nile.
