Keen for some more Pyramid action we got up very early on day three and headed out to our first up close, for real Pyramid. The Stepped Pyramid.
After hanging around the amazing Stepped Pyramid we headed over to another smaller pyramid for our first trip into a pyramid. As with most of the tombs you aren't allowed to take photos inside in order to preserve the tomb in the best possible way.
It was hot and cramped under the tomb but well worth it. We went down more than 20 meters and saw the burial chamber.
Next we traveled back to the big pyramids including the only surviving member of the 'Seven Wonders of the Ancient world' the Great Pyramid of Giza. Interestingly it's only the big one that is a wonder the others didn't make the cut.
After spending a few hours clambering over the Great Pyramid and it's smaller cousins we were able to go inside for a look. We went into the second pyramid (the one still with some of the limestone casing on top). It was HOT from being filled with sweating tourists all day and it was also cramped but well worth it.
Next we all jumped on some camels and went for a wander around the pyramids.
The Pyramids were incredible and so was the Sphinx. It was awe inspiring to see them all firsthand and up so close. The size of them is incomprehensible until you are actually there. We have even more photos to put up and will add them later but for now stay tuned for day 4.
