Day four is yet another huge day. We arrived in Luxor by sleeper train from Cairo at 4am. No one looks good at 4am (especially me as you can see below). We arrived at our beautiful new hotel and went straight up to bed.
After a sleep we headed into town to see the temple of Karnak, the most visited site in Egypt. The temple is actually a complex of many temples built over many dynasties. The majority was built by Rameses II.
This was one of the highlights of our trip. The temple was so large that we saw only a small part of it and we are determined to go back.
After the temple we headed back to the hotel for a bit of sun soaking and a swim. This was another highlight of the trip as we haven't been able to leave the house in less that 2 jackets for what seems like the last 18 months.
During the evening we took a horse and cart ride down to the Luxor Temple. It was originally attached to the Karnak Temple by a 3Km avenue of sphinxes. We visited the temple at night as it was all lit up and the effect was was stunning as you can see below.
